About Meads of Middlecroft
The Mead family live in Middlecroft near Chesterfield. We are from New Zealand, but after moving to the United Kingdom for work, have decided to stay an make England, and Derbyshire home.
We are from a long line of farmers, going back multiple generations in NZ as dariy farmers and cheese makers, and before that in Somerset, again with a strong family history in dairying, cheesemaking and other farming.
Jesse Mead, the first in the family to emigrate, ran a small dairy co-op in the North Island of NZ, where he made cheese and, with the whey, raised pigs for bacon.
The current Mead family in Middlecroft, have been raising Tamworth and British Saddleback pigs for a few years now and recently have taken on a field and with it a number of heritage breeds of sheep, with a small breeding flock of Shetland, Whiteface Woodland and Lonk.
